CPOA Association Honours CROM Champions
by Jill Hamilton
The CPOA Association was proud to be able to present several Canadian
Register of Merit (CROM) awards to Canadian POA's who have achieved
a high level of excellence in various show disciplines. This year
we had four CROM awards to announce.

CANADIAN REGISTER OF MERIT PROGRAM
The most prestigious of awards to be won by POAs in POA competition
at approved CPOA point shows. This award recognizes the outstanding
ability of POAs in competition against other POAs. The POA receives
a certificate and has the initials of the award added to its registration
number. The CROM can be won in various divisions which are outlined
in the Official Show Rules book. The most common are the CROMs in
Halter, Non-Timed classes and Timed events. All POAs which show
in approved shows receive points automatically provided the registered
owner/lessor is a member of the CPOA Association. Points are collected
on an on-going basis throughout the life of the POA.
LJ's Draaken
LJ's Draaken is a two-year-old colt bred by LJ's POA Farm and
owned by Natasha Pusch of Maple Ridge, BC. He achieved his CROM
at Halter in 2004 by achieving 250 halter points, 10 Grand Championships
and 3 Reserve Grand Championships. The required number of Championships
for this CROM is only five Grand Championships, or a combination
of 10 Grand and Reserve Grand Championships under five different
judges.
It is an awesome accomplishment to achieve a Canadian Register
of Merit at Halter at such a young age.

Lemu's Moon List
Lemu's Moon List is a two-year-old filly bred by Lemu's POA
Farm, Langley BC, owned by Dawn & Bill La Turco. She achieved
her CROM 2 years and under in 2004. This small filly has proven
herself to be a quiet, level-headed pony who is anxious to please.
She has proven herself in lunge line pleasure, long line driving,
and pleasure driving. |

Lemu's Sugar Baybe
Lemu's Sugar Baybe is a pretty, solid-colored yearling filly
(in 2004) owned by Lemu's POA Farm, Dawn & Bill La Turco,
of Langley BC. In limited showing she has proven she is worthy
of receiving a CROM, 2 years & under, excelling in lunge
line pleasure, long line driving as well as in-hand and long
line driving trail where she performed as though she were well
used to these events. "Sugar" also placed well in
halter classes and the futurities and will no doubt continue
with a strong show career. |

Lemu's Devil's Flare
Lemu's Devil's Flare, a yearling in 2004, is owned by Lemu's
POA Farm, Dawn & Bill La Turco, of Langley BC. He has been
shown by Dusting Jeffery to several excellent placings in halter,
costume, lunge line pleasure, long line driving and trail classes.
Many of us will remember the awesome Long Line Trail course
he did at the 2004 Canadian Western Nationals that was a lesson
to us all. "Max" has earned his CROM, 2 Years
& Under with ease under Dustin's careful tutelage. Congratulations. |
