Ontario ASPR Inspection, May 14th

After much preparation, the ponies were ready for the 3rd American Sport Pony Inspection in Ontario on May 14, 2005.

There were 14 lovely ponies and their anxious, proud owners assembled for the inspection at Kingsmill Equestrian Centre, near Paisley, Ontario. This wonderful new stable owned by Robin Milroy opened it doors for this inspection. Kingsmill is set in the lovely rolling hills of Bruce County. Although the day was overcast and wet, we were all snug, warm and dry in the barn and arena areas.

Thank you so much to Robin Milroy of Kingsmill Equestrian Centre and Pat Gras of Rockridge Arabians for organizing this successful event.

Each pony was presented for our inspector, Saskia De Haan. Starting at 9 am, Saskia judged each pony presented with the eye of a true professional. Her kindness and knowledge was truly appreciated by all the owners. Each of us learned a lot about our ponies and have become more knowledgeable of our own special friends.

Saskia graciously agreed to give a clinic for our local pony club members and spectators. She showed them how to judge conformation and how to train a pony to free jump. The pony club members gained valuable insight and knowledge to help them with their own ponies.

Most of the ponies presented were either broodmares or youngsters, the youngest being only 2 days old! It is too bad that we had only one performance test.
Congratulations to Rockridge Arabians who presented both the champion and reserve ponies at this inspection. Rockridge India, a lovely black yearling filly (Starglow Questor x Rockridge Pearl), was Champion and Rockridge Tango, a yearling overo palomino pinto colt (Starglow Questor x Rockridge Cookie), was Reserve Champion.
