Christilot Hanson Boylen Represents Canada at Aachen CDIO3*

Many of the world’s top dressage competitors gathered August 23-28, 2005 in the historic town of Aachen, Germany, for the 2005 Aachen CDIO3*. Canada’s representative at this prestigious event was Olympian Christilot Boylen, riding the 11-year-old Baden Württenberg gelding Gachino (Gardez x Chinatown) owned by Mrs. & Mr. Pedro Hermosilla of Madrid, Spain.

In the CDIO3* Grand Prix, Boylen and Gachino rode to a score of 63.58% from the panel of judges that included Truppa, Riexinger, Lette, Verbeek and Withages. Although hoping for a higher score, Boylen recognizes that Gachino is still in his first year of Grand Prix competition. "Gachino was overwhelmed with the stadium, and showed his unease throughout the test. We will be better next time!"

The class was won by Anky van Grunsven and Keltec Salinero who helped the Dutch team claim their first victory since 1977. Team Germany finished second followed by a strong American Team in third.

In the individual competition, Sweden’s Jan Brink and Björsells Briar were awarded top marks of 82.7% in the Grand Prix Kur to claim first place honours and the individual gold medal over van Grunsven

Boylen also took part in the small tour classes with the 10-year-old , Hannoverian gelding Don Valentino, owned by Compositor Investments Inc and Alec Murray. The duo completed the Prix St. Georges test with a score of 64.95% from the panel of judges that included Bachinger, Moritz, Sucksdorff, Fourage and Petushkova. The class was won by Anky Van Grunsven and her KWPN stallion IPS Painted Black with a score of 72.75%.
