Bits are some of the most fascinating pieces
of riding equipment. They can also be one of the most complicated
to choose, fit and use properly – after all, it can be hard to see
exactly what they're doing in there! This video is intended to present
the many different bits and their actions in a simple, informative
manner.
The video is done in a lesson-type format,
with a group of students gathered together asking common questions.
It covers both English and Western bits. The video shows well- and poorly-fitted bits on a variety of live horses, makes suggestions for improvement to fit, and talks about a bit’s role in a training regime. Though there is not a lot of new information for advanced riders in the DVD, it solidly covers the basics and would be a great teaching
tool for riding clubs.
