Dear Mr. David Trus,

I am writing to you in regards to the Canadian Sport Horse and Canadian Warmblood amalgamation, and to bring to light the ramifications to our organization that the length of time taken by this process has caused.

Sport Pony Canada is a fledgling registry and we have been patiently waiting for the APA to adopt an ëofficial breed descriptioní for the CWHBA and/or CSHA before opening our studbook, as much will be parallel within our organization and we would like to avoid similar problems and redundancy.

Our association has been ready to approach the APA for about a year and a half, but we see no point in going to the APA until the issues with Canadian Sport Horse and Canadian Warmblood have been resolved. It has affected our credibility with our members, and we are losing some of our membership to American Sport Pony. Weíre also losing money because we donít have breed shows and other fundraising opportunities. The volunteers are getting fed up and it is hard to keep them encouraged when the dates keep shifting back and weíre not able to give reasons for the delay.

It would be of great help to our organization if you could give us some idea as to where the APA is with the recognition/description of the Canadian Warmblood and/or Canadian Sport Horse so that we, as an organization, may make the necessary decisions to best serve our membership. In order to help us do so, we would like to request a copy of the Warmblood/CSHA draft description done up this spring.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Cindy Wilinski, Secretary/Treasurer Sport Pony Canada
