Beth Underhill Awarded ProChaps Athlete
of the Month Title for June
Ottawa, Ontario---Jump Canada is pleased to announce that Beth Underhill
of Schomberg, ON, has been named the ProChaps ‘Athlete of
the Month’ for June.
Riding Magdaline, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Darryl
B. Williams & Associates Inc., Underhill won the $60,000 National
Bank World Cup Qualifier held on June 27 at CSI-W L’International
Bromont in Bromont, QC.
From an original starting field of 20 horses, Underhill advanced
as the last of five riders to the jump-off. She produced a second
fault-free performance, but the hushed crowd alerted her to the
fact that the electric timers had malfunctioned. A few moments later,
the audience roared when it was announced that the manual timers
confirmed that Underhill was indeed victorious in a time of 40.20
seconds.
Underhill’s latest victory comes after a hiatus from the World
Cup ring. Her last Canadian League World Cup Qualifier victory occurred
in 1999 in the $60,000 World Cup Qualifier at the CSI-W Classique
Internationale de Blainville in Blainville, QC, with Altair. The
pair went on to win the 1999 Canadian World Cup League. During her
illustrious career, Underhill has represented Canada at the 1991
and 1999 Pan American Games, the 1994 World Equestrian Games, and
the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
In recognition
of her achievement, Vince will receive a pair of riding chaps, compliments
of ProChaps. A Canadian manufacturer of high-performance riding
