Henselwood Honoured with ProChaps Athlete of the Month
Title for July
Ottawa, Ontario---Jump Canada is pleased to announce that Jill Henselwood
of Oxford Mills, ON, has been named the ProChaps ‘Athlete
of the Month’ for July.
Following the completion of the Spruce Meadows North American Tournament
in July, Henselwood earned the prestigious title of “Spruce
Meadows North American Champion”™ presented by CN, beating
out United States Equestrian Team member Nicole Shahinian-Simpson
and three-time World Cup Champion Rodrigo Pessoa of Brazil.
Placing in the top ten in three out of four qualifying events, Henselwood
topped the standings for the “Spruce Meadows North American
Championship” TM riding Special Ed, a 10-year-old Oldenburg
gelding owned by Juniper Farms. Their results included an eighth
place finish in the ENERFLEX Cup, ninth in the MOLSON Cup, and ninth
in the ATCO POWER Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Accompanying the championship
title was a $15,000 bonus from CN, the use of a 2004 Chrysler vehicle
for one year courtesy of Daimler Chrysler Canada, and $5,000 in
Esso gasoline.
“The Spruce Meadows summer tournaments proved not only to
be a valuable training experience for my horses, but a successful
one,” remarked Henselwood. “I am pleased with how my
horses performed, and I look forward to returning to Spruce Meadows
in September for the Masters tournament.”
The Prochaps ‘Athlete of the Month’ title for July is
the second one this year for Henselwood; she was also recognized
in February for her string of victories on the HITS circuit in Indio,
CA.
In recognition
of her achievement, Henselwood will receive a pair of riding chaps,
